Champaklal speaks

Q. I cannot understand whether I am doing yoga or not. Can it be said that I am doing your Integral Yoga?

(Sri Aurobindo) Ans.:
Everyone who is turned to the Mother is doing my Yoga. It is a great mistake to suppose that one can "do" the Purna Yoga, i.e., carry out and fulfill all the sides of the Yoga by one's own effort. No human being can do that. What one has to do is to put oneself in the Mother's hands and open oneself to her by service, by bhakti, by aspiration; then the Mother by her light and force works in him so that the sadhana is done. It is a mistake also to have the ambition to be a big Purna Yogi or a supramental being and ask oneself how far have I got towards that. The right attitude is to be devoted and given to the Mother and to wish to be whatever she wants you to be. The rest is for the Mother to decide and do in you.

THOUGHT AND INTROSPECTION

PRAYER FOR THE BODY
Prayer for the body is essential in our day to day life. We should know how to pray for our body.
We’ve come upon earth for certain purposes, and in this earth we have been given one family, friends and a social circle around us. The great love and care of our parents enable us to face this world and help us know ourselves. They fulfill all of our demands whenever we want. We can have our spiritual growth when we will be able to understand the immense value of our life. When we will be to allow God to manifest in our life every moment, then we can reach perfection in our life.

First of all we should offer our body to the Divine and make it a Divine instrument. Body is only tamasic part in our being which gets affected by adverse forces immediately.
For making body our first instrument, we should keep it fit by doing Yoga asanas and pranayam. We have to offer each cells of the body to Her. Let Her Force, Her Strength, will work within us. And when Her Force is there with us, what is there that can touch us or whom need we fear?

All shall be drawn into a single plan,
A divine harmony shall be earth’s law,
Beauty and joy remould her way to live:
Even the body shall remember God,
Nature shall draw back from mortality
And Spirit’s fires shall guide the earth’s blind force;
Knowledge shall bring into the aspirant
ThoughtA high proximity to Truth and God. (Page 707)
“Life will then be a power released from the various restricting bonds of Ignorance and its heights will be pushed up to a level which is beyond the hungry reach of death. The tops of Life will be ablaze with the Immortal’s thoughts, and Light shall invade the darkness at the base of Life. Then as evolution proceeds, all shall be drawn into a single plan. All the laws of earth will be illumined by a divine harmony, and beauty and joy will remould Life. Even the body will not be left behind from this consummation. It will remember that it too is a manifestation of the divine. The luminous fires of the Spirit shall guide the blind force of the earth. Knowledge shall lead all aspiring thought to a nearness to Truth and God.”

Thoughts and Introspection- 02-Feb.-2009

Thoughts and Introspection- 02-Feb.-2009
Comparison with others is an inherent quality of lower mind. This is the main cause of all the conflicts and problems. In our day to day life most of the time we used to compare ourselves with others and especially most often this happens in our official environment. When my colleague does not do anything and just passes time in office hours and at the same time I used to struggle a lot to get the things moving, then in most of the time some sort of anger or depression comes into the mind and sometimes also that express it in outward activities. I was observing the same situation today and was trying to control my restlessness. But if we take the case of our family life the equation is altogether different. Mother used to work hard and never complains. Even she may not think for a fraction of second that she is working hard and doing some favour to other family members. What’s the difference then in both of the situations? In one case we used to compare and in another that becomes a so motto responsibility. I think in one case the work is imposed on us forcefully and in other we enjoy the work. In our family life the binding force that always exists is love and affection. That only makes our working as well as life beautiful. We have to bring the same love and affection into our office atmosphere and through that only proceed further.
But there is another important thing which we to always remember is the aim and objective of our present birth. Until we establish contact with our central being, i.e., the psychic being, we have to consider each and every happenings in our life as a stepping stone for moving forward and serving the Divine.
It is said that before taking a new birth the soul decides the type of experience it is going to experience in the forthcoming life and accordingly chooses the environment, place, parents, country etc. ho will be conducive for achieving that goal. After birth eventually we forget everything because here everything has to be started from scratch once again. ..birth, childhood, youth....all the stages of life. Generally the soul creates enough situations and gives us enormous hints so that we can be able to know our true self. If we remain conscious and open ourselves to the Divine Grace then in the course of our journey we experience so many beautiful things and the purpose of the birth becomes successful. We start living our life as an offering and sacrifice to the Divine. The distinction between egoistic desire and an aspiration for the higher life becomes clearly visible to us. Sri Aurobindo in his divinely words reminds the same thing to us various times.
“If you want to be a true doer of divine works, your first aim must be to be totally free from all desire and self regarding ego. All your life must be an offering and a sacrifice to the Supreme; .......... You must grow in the divine consciousness till there is no difference between your will and hers, no motive except her impulsion in you, no action that is not her conscious action in you and though you.
Until you are capable of this complete dynamic identification, you have to regard yourself as a soul and body created for her service, one who does all for her sake. Even if the idea of the separate worker is strong in you and you feel that it is you who do the work, yet it must be done for her...” - Sri Aurobindo (Book- The Mother, Chapter- V)
As the ego sense is very much active in me and I feel in most of the cases that I am indispensable, this simply further boost my ego. Ego always tries to compare and wants to prove its greatness.
Every individual has come to this earth for some specific purpose. Why should I except that what I am doing is the best and everybody will follow me. I have to constantly monitor this idea of separateness in me and offer it to the Divine.
O my Sweet Lord, Eternal Truth, Let Thy will be done.

Thoughts and Introspection- 01-Feb.-2009

Thoughts and Introspection- 01-Feb.-2009
Among the four parts of our being the physical has a very important role to play to make our life meaningful and perfect. Now a days people are becoming more and more conscious about their body and therefore attend health camps, practice asanas and pranayamas etc.. The yoga science camp conducted by Swami Sri Ramdevji Maharaja was just concluded yesterday here at hyderabad and a large number of people of all age groups had participated in this six day camp. The camp environment was really very nice with the presence of a group consciousness and everyone was contributing their hundred percent to keep their body perfect. The electrifying words of Swamiji which touched me very much was that we should practice pranayama in the same consciousness as we do a special puja or recite a very special mantra before God. Swamiji was teaching pranayamas, various types of yogic asanas as well as preaching the participants to love the country and be a very very active and conscious citizen of our beloved mother India.
The Mother has also given so much importance to physical education. As per her words :
“ Of all the domains of human consciousness, the physical is the one most completely governed by method, order, discipline, process. ........
Physical education has three principal aspects:
(1) control and discipline of the functioning of the body,
(2) an integral, methodical and harmonious development of all the parts and movements of the body and
(3) correction of any defects and deformities. “ (Collected Works of the Mother, Vol-12)
Sometimes we don’t even know how to sit properly, how to listen, sleep, walk, etc,..
Yesterday in a youth camp, a young student who sat besides me was shaking his legs in such a manner that I was getting disturbed again and again with the feeling that as if I am shaking my legs unconsciously.
We can be able to make our body to follow a discipline only when we shall be conscious about all our movements all the time.
The second and third steps aspects can be achieved by practicing suitable asanas and pranayamas required for our own body. I have to first of all know what are the defects and deformities in my body and then try to rectify those things consciously with a methodical manner.
There is a beautiful quotation of The Mother which depicts the impact of consciousness on our body.
How to Tackle Stirs:
“Coming up and down the stairs – you cannot imagine how useful that can be from the point of view of physical culture, if you know how to make use of it. Instead of going up because you are going up and coming down because you coming down, like any ordinary man, you go up with the consciousness of all muscles which are working and of making them work harmoniously. You will see. Just try a little, you will see! This means that you can use all the movements of your life for a harmonious development of your body. “ - The Mother
How beautiful and powerful is the statement of The Mother. Just like all life is yoga for us, all our movements in life becomes an exercise then!
The final aim of our body is to express beauty and harmony and for that let us try to be conscious in all our physical activities.

Thirst for Light

"A new humanity means for us the appearance, the development of a type or race of mental beings whose principle of mentality would be no longer a mind in the Ignorance seeking for knowledge but even in its knowledge bound to the Ignorance, a seeker after Light but not its natural possessor, open to the Light but not an inhabitant of the Light, not yet a perfected instrument, truth-conscious and delivered out of the Ignorance. Instead it would be possessed already of what could be called a mind of Light, a mind capable of living in the truth, capable of being truth-conscious and manfesting in its life a direct in place of an indirect knowledge. Its mentality would be an instrument of the Light and no longer of the Ignoracne. At its highest it would be capable of passing into the supermind and from the new race would be recruited the race of supramental beings who would appear as the leaders of the evolution in earth-nature."

Source:
The Supramental Manifestation, p. 67

The Mother explains:

This was certainly what he expected of us, what he conceived of as the superman who must be the intermediate being between humanity as it is and the supramental being created in the supramenta way, that is, no longer belonging to animality at all and delivered from all animal needs.

As we are, we have been created in the ordinary animal way, and therefore, even if we transform ourselves, there will remain something of this animal origin. The supramental being as he conceived of it, is not formed in the ordinary animal way at all but directly, through a process that for the moment still seems occult to us, but is a direct handling of forces and substances in such a way that the body can be a "materialisation" and not a formation according to the ordinary animal principle.

It is quite obvious that intermediate beings are necessary, that it is these intermediate beings who must find the means of creating beings of the supermind, and undoubtedly, when Sir Aurobindo wrote this he was convinced that thsi is what we must do.

I think -- I know -- that it is now certain that we shall realise what he expects of us. It has become no longer a hope but a certainty. Only the time necessary for this realisation will be longer or shorter according to our individual effort, our concentration, our goodwill... and the importance we give to this fact. For the inattentive observer things may appear very much what they were before, but for one who knows how to see and is not deceived by appearances things are going well.

Let each one do his best and perhaps not many years will have to elapse before the first visible results become apparent to all.

It is for you to know whether this interests you more than everything else in the world... There comes a moment when the body itself finds that there is nothing in the world which is so worth living for as this transformation; that there is nothing which can have as great an interest as this passionate interest of transformation. It is as though all the cells of the body were athirst for that Light which wants to manifest; they cry out for it, they find an intense joy in it and are sure of the Victory.

This is the aspiration that I am trying to communicate to you, and you will understand that everything else in life is dull, insipid, futile, worthless in comparison with that: the transformation in the Light.

Divine Presence

The followings are the writings of The Mother, which i would like to share with you all,as the Divines presence is always with in us and protecting us at all hours.

"The Divine Presence is in you.It is in you .You look for it outside; look inside .It is in you.The Presence is there....If you want, you can aspire for what seems to you the supreme goal, supreme light, supreme knowledge, supreme love. But it is in you- otherwise you would never be able to contact it.If you go deep enough inside you, you will find it there, like a flame that is always burning straight up."

Mother's Prayers and Meditation

My being goes up to Thee in thanksgiving, not because Thou usest this weak and imperfect body to manifest Thyself, but because Thou dost manifest Thyself, and that is the Splendour of splendours, the Joy of joys, the Marvel of marvels. All who seek Thee with ardour should understand that Thou art there whenever threre is need of Thee;and if they could have the supreme faith to give up seeking Thee, but rather to await Thee, at each moment putting themselves integrally at Thy service,Thou wouldst be there whenever there was need of Thee;and is there not always need of Thee with us,whatever may be the different, and often unexpectd, forms of Thy manifestation?

Let Thy glory be proclaimed

And sanctify life;

Let it transform men's hearts,

And Thy Peace reign on earth.

Make the Gift of Your Will

"You can at every minute make the gift of your will in an aspiration -- and an aspiration which formulates itself very simply, not just "Lord, Thy will be done", but "Grant that I may do as well as I can the best thing to do."

You may not know at every moment what is the best thing to do nor how to do it, but you can place your will at the disposal of the Divine to do the best possible, the best thing possible. You will see it will have marvellous results. Do this with consciousness, sincerity and perseverance, and you will find yourself getting along with gigantic strides. It is like that, isn't it? One must do things with all the ardour of one's soul, with all the strength of one's will; do at every moment the best possible, the best thing possible. What others do is not your concern -- this is something I shall never be able to repeat to you often enough."

Aspiration - thy name is courage

Aspiration is the other name of Courage. When you have desire, there is fear. But when you aspire, you have courage in you.
